VPC-3350AI Application Story: Object Video Analytics for Transportation
There are a large number of tasks where processing must be performed "on the edge", that is, next to the data source (cameras in this case). A cloud-based video surveillance company with a platform capable of handling multiple tasks came to AAEON in order to solve a few of their more technical demanding problems related to their solution.
The two major tasks with heavy data analytics in transportation include:
- Implementation of passenger counters in buses to control the number of tickets sold and to obtain statistics on traffic on the route.
- Driver control (detection of smoking and use of mobile phones).
Technical demands:
- On the premise: Running neural networks and analytics “on the edge” to off-load internet traffic due to the instability and high cost of communication.
- Scalability: The possibility of joint and separate use of various detectors.
- Wireless and Seamless: Data transfer for further processing via mobile connection anywhere, anytime.

The ARES-WHI0 brings the power of the 3rd Generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processors (formerly Ice Lake-SP) to a standardized platform with immense expandability potential. The ARES-WHI0 leverages the in-built 3rd Gen Xeon SP, including Intel® Deep Learning Boost™, along with four PCIe [x16] slots (three PCIe 4.0, one PCIe 3.0 with 8-lane function) to provide a powerful platform for automation, edge AI servers, and data center applications.
The system also comes with critical industrial features such as DIO, GPIO, and Case Open headers, as well as an additional three PCIe 3.0 [x4] (on [x8] slots) to support frame grabbers and other cards to power industrial machine controllers. Additionally, the
